When to Choose a Virtual Consultation Over an In-Person Visit

Telemedicine works well for follow-up visits, prescription renewals, minor illnesses, and conditions you've already been diagnosed with. Emergencies, and concerns that need a physical examination, imaging, or lab work, still need to be seen in person.
A good rule of thumb: if you're managing a known condition, need a second opinion, or just need to talk to a doctor before deciding your next step, a virtual consultation can save you the trip. If you're experiencing chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe injury, or any other emergency, go to the nearest hospital or call emergency services straight away.
